The Watermelon Couch

The Watermelon Couch is my third sculpture following the Petal Blocks and Sankofa bird. Petal Blocks are intended for use, not for looking. I consider this couch a mutation and evolution of my vision — a prototype of what’s to come.

You sit down and hangout to enjoy a slice of watermelon. The couch is an invitation to rest and reflect on the power of this cash crop and symbolism it holds in the history of Black People’s journey in America. Learn more here.
